Regulations under the Canberra Community Hospital
Board Ordinance 1935.

Hospital Board Ordinance 1935, hereby make the following Regulations. Dated this twenty-ninth day of August , 1935.

HOSPITAL BOARD ELECTION REGULATIONS.
Short title.
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Hospital Board Election Regulations.
Definitions. 2.— (1.) In these Regulations, unless the contrary intention appears—
" candidate " means a candidate for election;
" election " means an election of the two non-official members of
the Board ;
" n o m i n a t i o n " means the nomination of a candidate; " r o l l " means the roll of electors prepared in pursuance of the
Advisory Council Election Regulations;
" the Advisory Council Election Regula t ions" means the Advisory Council Election Regulations made under the Advisory Council Ordinance 1930-1932, as amended from time to t ime;
" the Board " means the Canberra Community Hospital Board
constituted under the Ordinance;
" t h e Chief Electoral Officer" means.the Chief Electoral Officer
for the Commonwealth;
" the Commonwealth Electoral A c t " means the Commonwealth Electoral Act 1918-1934, as amended from time to t ime ;
" the Ord inance" means the Canberra Community Hospital Board Ordinance 1935, as amended from time to time.
(2.) Any reference in these Regulations to a Form shall be read as a reference to a Form in the Schedule to these Regulations.

3. For the purposes of any election of the two non-official members of the Board, the Chief Electoral Officer shall be the Returning Officer, and shall be charged with the duty of giving effect to the provisions of the Ordinance in so far as it relates to the election, and of the Commonwealth Electoral Act and the Advisory Council Election Regulations in so far as they are applicable to such election.

(2.) The place of nomination shall be the office of the Returning Officer at Canberra.

| (2.) Where the election is held on the same day as an Advisory Council Election under the Advisory Council Election Regulations— (a) the polling places appointed for the purposes of the Advisory Council Election shall be polling places for the |
purposes of the election ;
(b) the Presiding Officers and Poll Clerks appointed for the purposes of the Advisory Council Election shall be Presiding Officers and Poll Clerks for the purposes of the election; and
(c) the ballot-boxes and certified copies of the roll provided for the purposes of the Advisory Council Election shall be ballot-boxes and certified copies of the roll for the purposes of the election:
Provided that names against which marks have been placed in accordance with regulation 5 of these Regulations shall be deemed to have been deleted from the roll.
14. The provisions of the Advisory Council Election Regulations poatai voting,

following words inserted in their stead:—•
"The Canberra Community Hospital Board Ordinance 1935.":
Provided that, where an election is held on the same day as an
Advisory Council Election under the Advisory Council Election
Regulations—
(a) an application for a postal vote certificate and postal ballot- paper in accordance with Form 5 in the Schedule to the Advisory Council Election Regulations shall, if the appli- cant is also entitled to vote at the election of the non- official Members of the Board, be deemed to include an application for a postal vote certificate and postal ballot- paper under these Regulations; and
(b) a postal vote certificate in accordance with Form 6 in the Schedule to the Advisory Council Election Regulations shall, if the person to whom it is issued is also entitled to vote at the election of the non-official members of the Board, be deemed to be a postal vote certificate under these Regulations.
Form of 15. The ballot-papers provided for the purposes of the election shall be ballot-paper. similar in form to those prescribed by Forms 7 and 8 of the Advisory

Provided that, where an election is held ou the same day as an
Advisory Council Election under the Advisory Council Election Regula- tions, a declaration in accordance with Form 9 in the Schedule to the Advisory Council Election Regulations shall, except in the case of a person resident in the Terri tory accepted in pursuance of the Jervis Bay Territory Acceptance Act 1915, be deemed to include a declaration under this regulation.
scrutineers. 17,.—(l.) Scrutineers may be appointed by candidates to represent them at the polling but so that not more thau one scrutineer shall be allowed to each candidate at each polling booth. (2.) Appointments of scrutineers shall be made by notice in writing or by telegram addressed to the Returning Officer or Presiding Officer and such notice or telegram shall be signed by the candidate and shall give the name and address of the scrutineer. (d) insert a notice in the Gazette setting out the names of the
candidates elected.
20. The Returning Officer shall preserve all the sealed parcels of
