Minister for Fair Trading. The object of this Regulation is to remove any doubt about the operation of the insurance requirements of section 102 of the Act in connection with the repair of certain residential flat buildings arising from damage caused by the Sydney hailstorm on 14 April 1999. The Regulation ensures that the standard $200,000 insurance coverage for residential building work is not, in the case of the repair of common property such as a roof, to be increased artificially by being multiplied by the number of units within the building or by any other factor. This Regulation is made under the Home Building Act 1989, including section 140.
