An Act to amend the Holidays Act 1958
The Legislative Assembly for the Australian Capital Territory enacts as follows:
Name of Act
This Act is the Holidays (Family and Community Day) Amendment Act 2009.
Commencement
This Act commences on the day after its notification day.
NoteThe naming and commencement provisions automatically commence on the notification day (see Legislation Act, s 75 (1)).
Legislation amended
This Act amends the Holidays Act 1958.
Public holidays
New section 3 (1) (a) (viiia)insert

Section 3 (6)

(6)In this section:
Family and Community Day means—
(a)the Monday after term 3 of the ACT school terms; or
(b)if that Monday is Labour Day—the next Monday.
NoteFor the ACT school terms—see award—see the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cwlth), part 2-3.
substituted public holiday means a day that is a public holiday because another day mentioned in subsection (1) (a) is a Saturday or Sunday.
