An Act to amend the Holidays Act 1958

The Legislative Assembly for the Australian Capital Territory enacts as follows:

  1. Name of Act

    This Act is the Holidays Amendment Act 2014.

  2. Commencement

    This Act commences on the day after its notification day.

    NoteThe naming and commencement provisions automatically commence on the notification day (see Legislation Act, s 75 (1)).

  3. Legislation amended

    This Act amends the Holidays Act 1958.

  4. Public holidays
    Section 3 (1) (a) (i)

    substitute

    (i)1 January (New Year’s day), and, if that day falls on a Saturday or Sunday, the following Monday;

  5. Section 3 (1) (a) (xi) and (xii)

    substitute

    (xi)25 December (Christmas Day) and—

    (A)if that day falls on a Saturday—the following Monday; or

    (B)if that day falls on a Sunday—the following Tuesday;

    (xii)26 December (Boxing Day) and—

    (A)if that day falls on a Saturday—the following Monday; or

    (B)if that day falls on a Sunday—the following Tuesday; and
