1354 Holiday=s Act Amendment Act 1985, No. 87 BE IT ENACTED by the Queen ' s Most Excellent Majesty , by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland in Parliament assembled , and by the authority of the same , as follows:- 1. Short title and citation . ( 1) This Act may be cited as the Holidays Act Amendment Act 1985. (2) In this Act the Holidays Act 1983 is referred to as the Principal Act. (3) The Principal Act as amended by this Act may be cited as the Holidays Act 1983-1985. 2. Amendment of s. 6. Special holidays, Section 6 of the Principal Act is amended by- (a) inserting after subsection (2) the following paragraph:- "The holiday appointed may be the date requested or another date as the Minister thinks fit."; (b) in subsection (4)- (i) after paragraph (a), omitting the word "or"; (ii) in paragraph (b), inserting after the words "that holiday" the words:- or (c) a holiday in respect of a district at any time exempted from the provisions of subsection (2) by the Governor in Council by Order in Council published in the Queensland Government Gazette or the Queensland Government Industrial Gazette": (c) inserting after subsection (4) as amended the following subsection:- "(5) Where an Order in Council is published pursuant to paragraph (c) of subsection (4) in respect of a district the Governor in Council may, in that or another Order in Council appoint such day or the forenoon or afternoon of such day as he thinks fit to be a holiday in that district.". 3. Repeal of s. 9. Banks may close on certain afternoons. S. 9 of the Principal Act is repealed.
