HIRE-PURCHASE (AMENDMENT) ACT.

An Act relating to insurance of goods under hire- purchase agreements; for this purpose to amend the Hire-Purchase Act, 1960; and for purposes connected therewith. [Assented to, 6th November, 1970.]

(1) This Act may be cited as the "Hire-Purchase (Amendment) Act, 1970". (2)
BE it enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly of New South Wales in

Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows : —

(2 ) This Act shall commence upon the first day of

December, one thousand nine hundred and seventy.

  1. The Hire-Purchase Act, 1960, is amended—

(a)

by omitting from subsection three of section twenty the words "a reputable" and by inserting in lieu thereof the words "an approved";

(b)

by inserting at the end of the same subsection the following new paragraph :—

In this subsection "approved insurer" means—

(a) insurer licensed under the Workers'

Compensation Act, 1926; or

(b) person who is an authorised insurer under the Motor Vehicles (Third Party Insurance) Act, 1942.
