I, Simon Birmingham, Minister for Education and Training, make this Determination under subsections 46‑40(3) of the Higher Education Support Act 2003.

Part 1 Preliminary

1Name of determination

This instrument is the Higher Education Support (Maximum Payments for Commonwealth Scholarships) Determination 2017.

2Authority

This instrument is made under subsection 46-40(3) of the Act.

3Commencement

This instrument commences on the day after it is registered on the Federal Register of Legislation.

4Revocation

The Higher Education Support (Maximum Payments for Commonwealth Scholarships) Determination 2016 (F2016L01998) is revoked with effect from the date of the commencement of this instrument.

Part 2 Maximum payments for Commonwealth Scholarships

5          Determination of the maximum payments

(i)For the purpose of item 14 of the table under subsection 46-40(1) of the Act, the maximum amount in respect of the year 2017 is $1,011,906,000.

(ii)For the purpose of item 14 of the table under subsection 46-40(1) of the Act, the maximum amount in respect of the year 2018 is $1,027,084,000.

(iii)For the purpose of item 14 of the table under subsection 46-40(1) of the Act, the maximum amount in respect of the year 2019 is $1,027,084,000.

(iv)For the purpose of item 14 of the table under subsection 46-40(1) of the Act, the maximum amount in respect of the year 2020 is $1,027,084,000.

(v)For the purpose of item 14 of the table under subsection 46-40(1) of the Act, the maximum amount in respect of the year 2021 is $1,027,084,000.
