Amendments to Guidelines made under section 238-10 of the Higher Education Support Act 2003

I, Julia Gillard, Minister for Education, pursuant to section 238-10 of the Higher Education Support Act 2003 (‘the Act’), make the attached Amendment No.5 to the Commonwealth Grant Scheme Guidelines No.1, which provide for matters under Part 2-2 of the Act.

Commonwealth Grant Scheme Guidelines No.1

Amendment No. 5

1                CITATION

These Guidelines may be cited as Amendment No. 5 to the Commonwealth Grant Scheme Guidelines No.1.

2                AUTHORITY

These guidelines are made under section 238-10 of the Higher Education Support Act 2003 (the Act) to give effect to matters set out in Part 2-2 of the Act.

3                DATE OF EFFECT

These Guidelines will come into effect the day after registration on the Federal Register of Legislative Instruments.

1. AMENDMENT

These Guidelines amend the Commonwealth Grant Scheme Guidelines No.1 which were registered on 12 December 2006, which commenced on 13 December 2006 (see F2006L04079) and which were amended on 5 September 2007 (see F2007L03523) with effect from 1 January 2008 (see F2008C00071).  A second amendment was registered on 27 February 2008, and commenced on 28 February 2008 (see F2008C00134). This amendment was disallowed on 14 May 2008, and the guidelines reverted to the previous amendment.  A third amendment was registered on 7 August 2008 and commenced on 8 August 2008 (see F2008L02946). A fourth amendment was registered on 3 November 2008 and commenced on 4 November 2008 (see F2008L04267).

PURPOSE

The purpose of this amendment is to amend Chapter 2 of the Commonwealth Grant Scheme Guidelines No. 1 to include Holmesglen Institute of TAFE as a provider that can be allocated Commonwealth supported places.
