1  Name

This instrument is the Higher Education (Maximum Amount for Special Purpose Advances) Specification 2023.

2  Commencement

(1)  Each provision of this instrument specified in column 1 of the table commences, or is taken to have commenced, in accordance with column 2 of the table. Any other statement in column 2 has effect according to its terms.

3  Authority

This instrument is made under subsection 33-40(3A) of the Higher Education Support Act 2003.

4  Definitions

Note:          The expression higher education provider used in this instrument is defined in Schedule 1 to the Act.

In this instrument:

Act means the Higher Education Support Act 2003.

5  Schedules

Each instrument that is specified in a Schedule to this instrument is amended or repealed as set out in the applicable items in the Schedule concerned, and any other item in a Schedule to this instrument has effect according to its terms.

6  Maximum amount of special purpose advances for a year

(1) For the purposes of subsection 33-40(3A) of the Act, the total of the advances that may be paid to a higher education provider in respect of a year must not exceed $25,000,000.
