The Parliament of Australia enacts:

1Short title

This Act may be cited as the Higher Education Funding Amendment Act 1999.

Commencement

1. (1)

   Subject to subsection (2), this Act commences on the day on which it receives the Royal Assent.

2. (2)

   Item 10 is taken to have commenced immediately after the commencement of item 31 of Schedule 1 to the Higher Education Legislation Amendment Act 1996.

3Schedule(s)

Subject to section 2, each Act that is specified in a Schedule to this Act is amended or repealed as set out in the applicable items in the Schedule concerned, and any other item in a Schedule to this Act has effect according to its terms.

Schedule 1—Higher Education Funding Act 1988

Subsection 4(1) Table A

Item dealing with James Cook University of North Queensland, omit “of North Queensland”.

2Subsection 4(1) Table A

After the item dealing with University Southern Queensland, insert:

“University of the Sunshine Coast”.

Repeal the paragraphs, substitute:

1. (k)

   in the case of the year 1999—$3,438,938,000; and

2. (l)

3. (m)

   in the case of the year 2001—$3,351,623,000.

Repeal the paragraph, substitute:

1. (l)

Repeal the paragraph, substitute:
