I, Chris Evans, Minister for Tertiary Education, Skills, Jobs and Workplace Relations, make this Determination under subsection 30-12(2) of the Higher Education Support Act 2003.

Name of Determination
This Determination is the Higher Education (Designated Courses of Study) Specification 2011.
Commencement
This Determination commences on the day after it is registered on the Federal Register of Legislative Instruments.
3 Application
This Determination shall apply in relation to the year commencing on 1 January 2012 or a later year.
4 Definitions
In this Determination:
Act means the Higher Education Support Act 2003.
advanced diploma means an award that is specified as a higher education award in the Australian Qualifications Framework with the AQF Qualification of an Advanced Diploma.
AQF Qualification has the same meaning as in the Australian Qualification Framework.
associate degree means an award that is specified as a higher education award in the Australian Qualifications Framework with the AQF Qualification of an Associate Degree.
Australian Qualification Framework has the same meaning as in the Act.
diploma means an award that is specified as a higher education award in the Australian Qualification Framework with the AQF Qualification of a Diploma.
enabling course has the same meaning as in the Act.
Table A provider has the same meaning as in the Act.
5 Specification of designated courses of study
i.For paragraph 30-12(1)(c) of the Act, the following courses of study are specified as designated courses of study in relation to a Table A provider:
(a) courses leading to an award of diploma;
(b) courses leading to an award of advanced diploma;
(c) courses leading to an award of associate degree; and
(d) enabling courses.
