Rule of Court Amending the High Court Rules2

(As of Wednesday the 17th day of March 1982)

PURSUANT to the Judiciary Act 1903as amended and to all other powers thereunto enabling, it is ordered that the High Court Rules, being Statutory Rules, 1952, No. 23, as amended, be further amended as follows:—

After Order 43, the following Order is inserted:—

“ORDER 43A

INTEREST ON JUDGMENTS

  • 1.

    Every judgment debt under a judgment of the High Court of Australia, entered prior to the 21st of April 1980 shall carry interest at the rate of five per centum per annum from the date as of which the judgment is so entered.

  • 2.

    Every judgment debt under a judgment of the High Court of Australia, entered as of the 21st of April 1980, or subsequent to that date, shall carry interest at the rate of ten per centum per annum from the date as of which the judgment is so entered.
