An Ordinance to amend the Health Professions Boards (Elections) Ordinance 1980
Short title
1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Health Professions Boards (Elections) (Amendment) Ordinance 1988.1
Commencement
2. This Ordinance shall come into operation on such date as is fixed by the Minister by notice in the Gazette.
Principal Ordinance
3. In this Ordinance, “Principal Ordinance” means the Health Professions Boards (Elections) Ordinance 1980.2
Interpretation
4. Section 3 of the Principal Ordinance is amended—
(a)by omitting “Registration” from paragraph (c) of the definition of “Board”;
(b)by omitting paragraph (c) of the definition of “Chairman” and substituting the following paragraph:
“(c)in relation to an election held for the purposes of the Nurses Ordinance—the Chairperson of the Nurses Board or, if for any reason the Chairperson is unable to act, the Deputy Chairperson of the Nurses Board;”;
(c)by inserting the following definition in its appropriate alphabetical position:
“ ‘Nurses Board’ means the Nurses Board established under the Nurses Ordinance;”;
(d)by omitting “Nurses Registration Ordinance 1933” from the definition of “Nurses Ordinance” and substituting “Nurses Ordinance 1988”;
(e)by omitting the definition of “Nurses Registration Board”; and
(f)by omitting “20” from paragraph (c) of the definition of “Register” and substituting “16”.
Nominations
5. Section 8 of the Principal Ordinance is amended—
(a)by inserting in paragraph (3) (c) “or she is a registered nurse and” after “he”; and
(b)by omitting from paragraph (3) (c) “nurse” and substituting “general nurse, a midwifery nurse, a mental health nurse or an infants’ nurse”.
Schedule 1
6. Schedule 1 to the Principal Ordinance is amended—
(a)by omitting from Forms 1 and 2 “(a) NURSES REGISTRATION BOARD” and substituting “(a) NURSES BOARD”; and
(b)by omitting from Form 3 “(a) Nurses Registration Board” and substituting “(a) Nurses Board”.
