Health Insurance (Variation of Fees and Medical Services) (No. 48) Regulations

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Health Insurance Act 1973.

Citation

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Health Insurance (Variation of Fees and Medical Services) (No. 48) Regulations.

Amendments of the Schedule to the Health Insurance (Variation of Fees and Medical Services) (No. 47) Regulations

2. The Schedule to the Health Insurance (Variation of Fees and Medical Services) (No. 47) Regulations is amended as set out in the Schedule to these Regulations.

SCHEDULE Regulation 2

AMENDMENTS OF THE SCHEDULE TO THE HEALTH INSURANCE (VARIATION OF FEES AND MEDICAL SERVICES) (NO. 47) REGULATIONS

1. After rule 41 insert the following rule:

"42. In Part 1, 'attendance of a minor nature' means an attendance by a consultant physician on a person, being an attendance:

(a) that is a second or subsequent attendance (in this rule referred to as the latter attendance') in the course of a single course of treatment of that person by that consultant physician where it is not necessary for the consultant physician, in the course of the latter attendance, to carry out a physical examination of the person; and

(b) that does not result in a substantial alteration to the treatment of that person.".

2. Omit from item 110 "118", substitute "119".

Omit items 116 and 118, substitute the following items:

"116. Professional attendance by a consultant physician in the practice of his specialty (not being psychiatry) where the patient is referred to him by a medical practitioner—a second or subsequent attendance (not covered by item 119) in a single course of treatment—each attendance—where that attendance is at consulting rooms, hospital or nursing home
