Health Insurance Regulations 2(Amendment)

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, make the following Regulations under the Health Insurance Act 1973.

1.   Commencement

1.1   These Regulations commence on 1 November 1991.

2.   Amendment

2.1   The Health Insurance Regulations are amended as set out in these Regulations.

3.   Regulation 2adb (Medicare benefit not payable in respect of certain professional services)

3.1   Paragraph 2adb (2) (e):

Omit “related”, substitute “in relation”.

3.2   Subregulation 2adb (2):

Add at the end:

  • “;(f)

    professional services rendered for the purposes of, or in relation to:

     (i) the transplantation of a thoracic or abdominal organ, other than a kidney, or of a part of an organ of that kind; or

     (ii) the transplantation of a kidney in conjunction with the transplantation of a thoracic or other abdominal organ, or of a part of an organ of that kind;

     if the services are rendered to an in-patient of a hospital.”.
