Health Insurance Regulations 2(Amendment)

I, The Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, make the following Regulations under the Health Insurance Act 1973.

1.   Commencement

1.1   These Regulations are taken to have commenced immediately after the commencement of Regulation 4 of Statutory Rules 1992 No. 111.

[NOTE: Regulation 4 of Statutory Rules 1992 No. 111 (Health Insurance Regulations (Amendment)) commenced on 1 May 1992.]

2.   Amendment

2.1   The Health Insurance Regulations are amended as set out in these Regulations.

3.   Regulation 10 (Diagnostic imaging services which dental practitioners may request)

3.1   Omit “items 57901 to 58033 (inclusive), other than items that include the symbol (NS)”, substitute “items 57900 to 57945 (inclusive)”.

4.   Regulation 11 (Diagnostic imaging services which chiropractors, physiotherapists and podiatrists may request)

4.1   Subregulation 11 (1):

Omit “items 57725, 57728, 57734, 57737, 57743, 57747 and 58101 to 58152 (inclusive) other than items that include the symbol (NS)”, substitute “items 57712, 57715, 57718 and 58100 to 58118 (inclusive)”.

4.2   Subregulation 11 (2):

Omit “items 57513, 57516, 57549, 57552, 57561 and 57564”, substitute “items 57503, 57521 and 57527”.

5.   Regulation 12 (Exemption—pre-existing diagnostic imaging services)

5.1   Omit “items 57731, 57740, 57750, 57907, 57916, 57943, 57952, 57970, 58107, 58116, 58125, 58134, 58143, 58152, 58528, 58537, 58546, 58952 and 58958”, substitute “items 57712, 57715, 57718, 57900, 57903, 57912, 57915, 57921, 58100 to 58118 (inclusive), 58521, 58524, 58527, 58700, 58924 and 59103”.
