Name of Determination

This Determination is the Health Insurance (Duplex Scanning for Erectile Dysfunction) Amendment Determination 2011 (No. 1).

Commencement

This Determination commences on 1 July 2011.

Amendment

Schedule 1 of this Determination amends the Health Insurance (Duplex Scanning for Erectile Dysfunction) Determination 2010 (No. 1).

[1] Section 5

Delete “and” after “medical services” in paragraph (a)

[2] Section 5

Insert “and” at the end of paragraph (b)and insert new paragraph (c) “shall have effect as if items referred to in Schedule 1 of this Determination were also specified as items in Group I1 of the Schedule to the Health Insurance (Diagnostic Imaging Capital Sensitivity) Determination 2011 as in force from time to time.”

DUPLEX SCANNING involving B mode ultrasound imaging and integrated Doppler flow measurement by spectral analysis of cavernosal artery of the penis following intracavernosal administration of a vasoactive agent, performed during the period of pharmacological activity of the injected agent to confirm a diagnosis of vascular aetiology for impotence (R)(NK).

A fee equal to the fee in item 55230 of the Health Insurance (Diagnostic Imaging Capital Sensitivity) Determination 2011 as specified in that item from time to time.

DUPLEX SCANNING involving B model ultrasound imaging and integrated Doppler flow measurement by spectral analysis of cavernosal tissue of the penis to confirm a diagnosis and, where indicated, assess the progress and management of: (a) priapism; or (b) fibrosis of any type; or (c) fracture of the tunica; or (d) arteriovenous malformations (R)(NK).

A fee equal to the fee in item 55232of the Health Insurance (Diagnostic Imaging Capital Sensitivity) Determination 2011 as specified in that item from time to time.
