Health Insurance Commission Regulations (Amendment) (Cth)

THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice
of the Federal Executive Council, make the following Regulations under the
Dated 27 May 1993.

1.1 These Regulations are taken to have commenced on 1 May 1993
2.1 The Health Insurance Commission Regulations are amended as set out in these Regulations.
3.1 After regulation 3g, insert:
“3H. (1) In this regulation:
“(2) For the purposes of subsection 8e (1) of the Act, the following function is prescribed, namely the payment, on behalf of the Authority, of claims by benefit providers for the supply of hearing services.
“(3) For the purposes of the function conferred by subregulation (2), the Commission may release the following information to the Authority with regard to each claim processed by the Commission:
(a) client number;
(b) date of processing;
(c) provider number;
(d) hearing services card expiry date;
(e) hearing loss details for both right and left ears;
(f) whether the provider consulted with an Authority audiologist;
(g) item number;
(h) date of service;
(i) device fitted, whether fitted to the left or right ear, and fitting configuration;
(j) date on which the device was fitted.”.
