I, NICOLA ROXON, Minister for Health and Ageing, under Section 124X of the Health Insurance Act 1973 (the Act):

  1. DECLARE the Activities described in the Schedule to this declaration (the Activities) to be   quality assurance activities to which Part VC of the Act applies being satisfied in relation to the Activities that:

(i)the organisation engaging in the Activities is authorised to do so by an association of health professionals; and

(ii)it is in the public interest that Part VC of the Act applies to the Activities having regard to the criteria prescribed in regulations 23C to 23G (inclusive) of the Health Insurance Regulations 1975.

Title:   Accreditation of Health Services in Australian Immigration Detention Centres

Description:   The Activity is for the development and implementation of an accreditation process to ensure that the health services delivered to people in Australian Immigration Detention Centres meet the Standards for health services in Australian immigration detention centres (IDC Health Standards) developed for the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) by the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP).

2.       Organisation engaging in activity:         Quality Innovation Performance Limited

Title:   Accreditation of Diagnostic Imaging Practices           

Description:   The Activity is for the accreditation of diagnostic imaging practices against the Diagnostic Imaging Accreditation Scheme with the aim of ensuring the delivery of safe, high quality services to patients.

3.       Organisation engaging in activity:         Australian General Practice Accreditation Limited (AGPAL)

Title:   Accreditation for General Practices, including After Hours and Medical Deputising Services     

Description:   The Activity is for the accreditation of general practices against The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) Standards for general practices 3rd edition.
