DECLARATION OF QUALITY ASSURANCE ACTIVITY
UNDER SECTION 124X
QAA No. 1/2007
I, ANTHONY JOHN ABBOTT, Minister for Health and Ageing, under Section 124X of the Health Insurance Act 1973 (the Act):
DECLARE the Activities described in the Schedule to this declaration (the Activities) to be a quality assurance activity to which Part VC of the Act applies being satisfied in relation to the Activity that:
(i)the organisations engaging in the Activities are authorised to do so by an authority of the Commonwealth at Item 1 and 2, and by an association of health professionals at Item 3;
(ii)it is in the public interest that Part VC of the Act apply to the Activities having regard to the criteria prescribed in regulations 23C to 23G (inclusive) of the Health Insurance Regulations 1975.

DECLARED QUALITY ASSURANCE ACTIVITY TO WHICH PART VC OF THE HEALTH INSURANCE ACT 1973 APPLIES
Item Description of Quality Assurance Activity

1. Organisation engaging in activity: Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand (CCSANZ), Royal College of (RACS) and Molecular Medicine Informatics Model (MMIM).
Title: Bi-National Colorectal Cancer Audit.
Description: The Activity is for the establishment of a bi-national colorectal cancer database in which the information will be used for clinical audit of surgical practices.
2. Organisation engaging in activity: The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG).
Title: Obstetrician Locum and Host Practice Review.
Description: The Activity will involve RANZCOG fellows to provide locum services to their colleagues which will provide a peer review process of the practice.
3. Organisation engaging in activity: Australian College of Midwives.
Title: Midwifery Practice Review.
Description: The Activity is for the establishment of an external peer review evaluation of the practice of individual midwives.
