I, Rear Admiral PETER ROSS SINCLAIR, A.C., Governor of the State of New South Wales, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of section 2 of the Health Care Complaints Act 1993, do, by this my Proclamation, appoint 1 July 1994 as the day on which the uncommenced provisions of that Act commence, except Schedule 3 in so far as it amends the Coroners Act 1980 and section 102 in its application to that amendment.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The object of this Proclamation is to commence the substantive provisions of the Health Care Complaints Act 1993 relating to the making and handling of complaints (except the amendment to the Coroners Act 1980 which would require a coroner to report to the Health Care Complaints Commission any evidence of health care malpractice which is given in an inquest before the coroner).

The provisions of the Act that enable the appointment of the Commissioner and staff of the Health Care Complaints Commission commenced on 4 May 1994.
