HEALTH ADMINISTRATION ACT 1982 - REGULATION
(Relating to information available to the public
and certain prescribed establishments)

HIS Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of the Health Administration Act 1982, has been pleased to make the Regulation set forth hereunder.

The Health Administration (Quality Assurance Committees)
Regulation 1990 is amended:
| (a) |
by omitting clause 9 and by inserting instead the following Information available to the public
9. (1) A Committee must make available to the public the
following information:
(a)
the services which have been assessed and evaluated by the Committee within the preceding year;
(b)
any action taken (described in general terms) as a result of the assessment and evaluation process referred to in paragraph (a).
(2) The information is to be made available:
(a)
during normal business hours at the principal place of administration of the prescribed establishment that established the Committee; and

(b)
in such written form as is determined by that prescribed establishment.
(b)
by inserting in Schedule 1 after the words "Australian Postgraduate Federation in Medicine" the following words:
The Australian Red Cross Society New South Wales
Division, in respect of the Blood Transfusion Service
(c)
by omitting from Schedule 1 the words "Neurosurgical Society of Australasia'' and by inserting instead the following words:
New South Wales Neurosurgical Association
(d)
by omitting from Schedule 1 the words "Otolaryngological Society of Australia Limited" and by inserting instead the following words:
The Australian Society of Otolaryngology Head and Neck
Surgery Limited
(e)
by omitting from Schedule 1 the words "Pharmaceutical Society of N.S.W." and by inserting instead the following words:
Pharmaceutical Society of Australia (New South Wales) Ltd
EXPLANATORY NOTE
The object of this Regulation is to amend the Health Administration (Quality
Assurance Committees) Regulation 1990 so as:
(a) to substitute clause 9 so as to clarify the obligations of quality assurance committees (established under Division 6B of Part 2 of the Health Administration Act 1982) with respect to the provision to the public of information as to the assessment and evaluation of the provision of health services; and (b) to amend Schedule 1, which lists prescribed establishments (being bodies authorised to establish approved quality assurance committees), by adding the name of one body to the Schedule and by substituting the names of 3 others, either because the existing name is inappropriate or because the body has changed its name.
