[ASSENTED TO 17TH FEBRUARY, 1920.] B E it enacted by the King's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legis- lative Council and Legislative Assembly of Queensland in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows : - 1 This Act may be cited as "The Harbour Boards Short title. Act8 Amendment Act of 1920." " 2. The following amendments are made in *" The Amendments Harbour Boards Act, 1892" : - of Harbour Boards Act, 1892. (i.) The following definition is added to section Amendment seven:- of So 7. The term "Chairman" means the person acting for the time being as the Chairman of the Harbour Board, and includes a deputy Chairman. (ii.) Mter section fifty-four the following section is , inserted : - ' [54A.] (1.) If the Chairman is at any time temporarily Deputy absent from the Harbour or if he is ill, the Board may, if Chairman. it thinks fit, appoint one of its members to act as deputy Chairman during the time of such absence or illness, and the deputy Chairman, while .so acting and until the Chairman returns to the harbour or notifies the clerk in writing, under his hand, of the fact of his recovery from illness (but within the term of office of such Chairman), may do all acts that the Chairman as such might do. * 56 Vie. A minute made and authenticated in the pre- scribed manner of the appointment of any person as deputy Chairman shall, as regards all persons having any business with the Board and' acting in good faith, be deemed conclusive evidence of the validity of the appoint- ment of such person as deputy Chairman and of his continued authority to act as such, and shall relieve all persons having business as aforesaid from the necessity of making any inquiries in the matter. • Axncndment 3.
