An Act to prevent the shipment or delivery of Gunpowder and other explosive materials and of Vitriol or other such Mineral Acids with­ out due notification thereof. [31st October, 1854.]

1. N o Gunpowder or o ther explosive ma te r i a l nor any Vi t r io l

or o ther such M i n e r a l Acid shall be shipped on board of or del ivered from any vessel in any por t or place in t he Colony wi thou t a special notif ication thereof to t he Collector or o ther pr incipal officer of Cus­ toms a t or neares t t o such por t or place no r shall t h e same be so shipped or delivered wi thou t a p la in a n d durable b r and or superscr ip­

t ion on t h e package conta in ing t h e same shewing t h a t G u n p o w d e r or

some other and w h a t explosive ma te r i a l or Vi t r io l or o ther such Mine ra l Acid as aforesaid is t he re in conta ined and also shewing the q u a n t i t y thereof A n d if any person shall so ship or deliver or cause to be shipped or delivered any such Gunpowder or o ther explosive ma te r i a l or Vi t r io l or o ther such Mine ra l Acid as aforesaid wi thou t such notification or wi thou t such b r and or superscr ip t ion or if any person in charge of any vessel shall knowingly receive on board or pe rmi t to be landed any such Gunpowder or other explosive mater ia l or Vi t r io l or o the r M i n e r a l Acid as aforesaid wi thou t such notification and b r a n d or superscr ip t ion every such person shall be deemed gui l ty of a misdemeanor and on convict ion thereof shall be l iable to be fined

or impr isoned at t h e discret ion of t h e Court .
