208 , Guide Dogs Act Amendment Act 1984, No. 16 BE IT ENACTED by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:- 1. Short title and citation . (1) This Act may be cited as the Guide Dogs Act Amendment Act 1984. (2) In this Act the Guide Dogs Act1972 is referred to as the Principal Act. (3) The Principal Act as amended by this Act may be cited as the Guide Dogs Act1972-1983. 2. Amendment of long title . The long title of the Principal Act is amended by inserting after the words " blind persons " the words " or aiding deaf persons ". 3. Amendment of s. 3. Interpretation . Section 3 of the Principal Act is amended by- (a) inserting after the definition " blind person " the following definition:- "deaf person " includes a person who is partially deaf; "; (b) in the definition " guide dog ", inserting after the words " blind person " the words " or as an aid by a deaf person ". 4. Amendment of s. 5. Right of blind persons to be accompanied by guide dogs . Section 5 of the Principal Act is amended by- (a) in the note appearing in and at the beginning of the section, inserting after the word " blind " the words " or deaf "; (b) in subsection (2)- (i) inserting after the word " blind " the words " or deaf "; (ii) inserting after the words " as a guide " the words " or an aid, as the case may be ". 5. Amendment of s. 6. Offences by persons in charge . Section 6 of the Principal Act is amended by inserting after the word " blind " wherever it appears the words " or deaf " in each case. 6. Amendment of s. 7. Powers of Governor in Council . Section 7 of the Principal Act is amended by, in paragraph (a), inserting after the word " persons " the words " or as aids for deaf persons".
