N o special promise to be made by any person after t he passing of th i s A c t to answer for t h e debt defaul t or miscar r iage of another person being in wr i t ing and signed by the pa r ty to be charged there wi th or some other person by h i m t h e r e u n t o lawfully author ized shall be deemed invalid to suppor t an act ion suit or o ther proceeding to charge t he person by w h o m such promise shall have been made by reason only t h a t t he consideration for such promise does no t appear in
