An Act to amend the Law relating to Guaran­

tees. [21st November, 1882.]

WH E R E A S it is expedient to amend the law re la t ing to Guaran tees by and wi th t he advice and consent of t he Legislat ive Council and
Be i t therefore enacted by the Queen ' s Mos t Exce l len t Majesty
Legis la t ive Assembly of N e w South W a l e s in P a r l i a m e n t assembled

and by the au thor i ty of t he same as follows :—
1. N o special promise to be made by any person after t he passing of th i s A c t to answer for t h e debt defaul t or miscar r iage of another person being in wr i t ing and signed by the pa r ty to be charged there­ wi th or some other person by h i m t h e r e u n t o lawfully author ized shall be deemed invalid to suppor t an act ion suit or o ther proceeding to charge t he person by w h o m such promise shall have been made by reason only t h a t t he consideration for such promise does no t appear in

wr i t i ng or by necessary inference from a wr i t t en documen t .
