GROWTH CENTRES (DEVELOPMENT CORPORATIONS)

ACT 1974—ORDER

I, The Honourable Gordon Samuels A.C., Governor of the State of New South Wales, with the advice of the Executive Council, and pursuant to Section 5 of the Growth Centres (Development Corporations) Act 1974, make the Order set out hereunder.

Citation

1. This Order may be cited as the Growth Centres (South Sydney

Development Corporation) Order 1996.

Commencement

2. This Order takes effect on and from 10 December, 1996.

Definitions

3. In this Order:

“South Sydney Growth Centre” means the land referred to in Part 5
of Schedule 1 to the Act;
“the Act” means the Growth Centres (Development Corporations)

Growth Centres (Development Corporations) Act 1974—Order

Amendment of Schedule 1 to the Act

4. Schedule 1 to the Act is amended by inserting at the end of the

Schedule in Columns 1 and 2 respectively the following Part:

5.        ALL THOSE pieces or parcels of land within the Council of the City of South Sydney (being land generally bounded by South Dowling Street in the East, Gardeners Road in the South, excluding the general residential area of Rosebery, Campbell Road to Euston Road in the West and McEvoy Street and Crescent Street to South Dowling Street in the North) and as shown by thick black edging on the map titled “South Sydney Development Corporation” copies of which are deposited at the Department of Urban Affairs and Planning.

5. A development corporation, under the corporate name of the South Sydney Development Corporation, is constituted in respect of the South Sydney Growth Centre.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order sets aside certain lands in the Sydney area as a growth centre, known as the South Sydney Growth Centre, and constitutes a development corporation, to be known as the South Sydney Development Corporation, to promote co-ordinate, manage and secure the orderly and economic development of the growth centre.
