by tirtue of this Act for any horses or carriages attending his Excellency the Governor of the Province the Surveyor-General or chief officer in command of the police department or returnin therefrom or any such horses

duty or returning therefrom having the pass of such officer or of the Colonial

or carriages attending or returning from atten I ing any public officer on public

Secretary to that effect or from any person or persons for any horse or horses or,

other beast or cattle or for any waggon wain cart or other carriage emplop3

in carrying or conveying or going empty to fetch carry or convey or returning

empty from carrying or conreying having been emplo jd only in carrying or

conveying on the same day any stones bricks timber wood grarel or othcr

materials for making or repairing the said road or for building rebuilding or

repairing any present or any future bridge or bridges on the said road or of or

fiom the surveyor of the said road when engaged in executing or roceeding to

execute the powers of this Act or for any horse beast or ot er cattle or

days of exercise inspection or review or on other public duty provided that

such pexaon shell be dressed in the uniform of his corps according to the

regulations of such corps a t the time of claiming tpe exemption or for any

horses or carriages which shall only cross the said road or shall not pass

above one hundred yards thereon.
