Regulations2 (Amendment)

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulation under the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Act 1975.

After regulation 12 of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Regulations the following regulation is inserted in Part II:

Limit on the number of persons who may be discharged by certain operators within the Cairns Section

“13. A person operating a vessel must not permit more than 20 persons to be discharged from that vessel per day at a place within the Cairns Section unless he or she has a permission under paragraph 9.2 (f) of the zoning plan for that section:

(a) to establish or conduct a tourist program; or

(b) to undertake research or construction; or

(c) to establish or conduct an educational program; using that vessel to gain access to that place.

Penalty: $5,000.”.
