An Act to regulate Grants-in-Aid to Corporate Bodies.

with the advice sntl consent of the Legislative Council and

assembled, as follows:

1, This Act may be cited for all purposes as " Grants-in-Aid Shodtitl~-

Regulation Act, 1 885."

2. In the interpretation of this Act,

corporate bodies " shall lnk~retation.

financial year ending the thirtieth day of June, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-six, and shall be made in every subsequent financial year so long as requisite, according to the provisions of this Act.

as may be ap<&ved by the Commissioner of Crown Lands, and

every such grant shall 6e similarly expended.

Amowtt of grants.

6, Every grant to a corporate body shall, for the first finmcinl year, commencing July Ist, 1885, he of an amount eqnd to kifteen Shillings in the Pound on the rates in aid of which such

grant shall be made, collectcd and expended as aforesaid during

such financial year, and for the financial year cotnmencin,: the first day of Julv, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-six, at the rate of ~ e n ' ~ h i l l i n ~ s in the Pound: Provided that it shall be competent for the Commissioner of Crown Lands to withhold any grant from any corporake body until he shall be satisfied that the payments in support of such grant have been properly made; and in case nn examination of the ,zccounts of any corporate body niay be deemed necessarv before paying any grant, to deduct from future grants the cart o f such examination, and any overpayments t,hat may have been made.

Regutations.

7. The Commissioner of Crown Lands may make all snoh regu- lations as he shall think fit for giving effect to the provisions and carrying out the purposes of this Act, and all such regulations shall be published in the Gazette, ancl thereafter shall have the force of law.
