GRAIN ELEVATOR ACT

Act No. 47, 1916.

An Act to sanction the construction of certain grain

elevators ; to amend the Public Works Act,

1912 ; and for purposes consequent thereon

and incidental thereto. [Assented to, 4th

October, 1916.]

Wales in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of
the same, as follows :—

1 . This Act may be cited as the "Grain Elevator

Act, 1916."
2 . The carrying out of the work, which comprises the erection of one terminal grain elevator at Sydney, one terminal grain elevator at Newcastle, and of not more than two hundred country grain elevators, is hereby sanctioned, and the Minister of Agriculture, or the member of the Executive Council for the time being performing the duties of the said Minister, is hereby authorised to undertake and carry out the said work,
subject to the provisions of this Act, and for that purpose
shall be and shall have the power of a Constructing Authority within the meaning of the Public Works Act,

1912.

3 . The provisions of sections thirty-four, thirty-live, thirty - s i x , and thirty-seven of the Public Works Act,

1912, shall not apply to the said work, but the pro­
visions of section thirty-eight shall apply to any contracts
for carrying out such work.
4 . The cost of carrying out the said work, estimated at two million pounds (exclusive of land resumptions), may be defrayed from such Loan Votes as are now or may hereafter be applicable to the purpose, or from appropriations of the Public Works Fund, or partly from such votes and partly from such appropriations, and shall not under any circumstances exceed the estimated cost

by more than ten per centum. 5 .

5 . The said works shall be deemed to he an autho- rised work for the purposes of the Public Works Act, 1912, and all the provisions of the said Act sive as provided by this Act shall apply thereto.
