in accordance wi th t he provisions of t h e Pub l i c W o r k s

out of a scheme of water supply from the Nymbo ida River for t h e munic ipa l i t i es of Graf ton a n d South Grafton : A n d whereas , on the pass ing of t he said resolut ion, a s t a tu to ry du ty was by the said Ac t imposed on the Secretary for Pub l i c W o r k s to in t roduce a Bill in to t h e said Assembly to sanct ion the ca r ry ing out of the said work : Be i t therefore enac ted by the K i n g ' s Most Exce l l en t Majesty by and wi th t h e advice and consent of the Legislat ive Council and Legis la t ive Assembly of New South w a l e s in P a r l i a m e n t assembled and by t h e au thor i ty of t he same a s follows :—

Preliminary.

1 . This A c t may be cited as the " Grafton and South Graf ton

W a t e r Supply Act , 1910 . "
Work sanctioned.

2 . The carrying out of the works, more par t icular ly described in t he Schedule to th i s Act , is he reby sanct ioned, and the Secretary for Pub l i c TV oiks or the member of the Execu t ive Council for the t ime being per forming the dut ies of t he said Secretary, is hereby au thor i sed to u n d e r t a k e and car ry out the said works, subject to the

provisions of th i s Act , and for t ha t purpose shall be and shall have
t h e powers and dut ies of a Cons t ruc t ing Au tho r i t y wi th in the m e a n i n g
of t h e Pub l i c Works Act , 1900.

3 . The p lan of the said works is the p lan marked " The

Graf ton and South Graf ton W a t e r Supply W o r k s " signed by the
Secre ta ry for Pub l i c "Works and counters igned by the Chief Engineer
for H a r b o u r s and W a t e r Supply , and deposited in t he publ ic office of
t he said Secretary.

4 .     The cost of car ry ing out the said works, es t imated a t sixty-

e ight thousand five hundred pounds, may he defrayed from such loan votes as are now, or may hereafter be, appl icable to t h a t purpose, and shall not , unde r any c i rcumstances , exceed the es t imated cost by more

t h a n t en per cen tum.

SCHEDULE.

THE water for the supply of Grafton and South Grafton will bo drawn from the
Nymboida River, near the village of Nvmboida, in the parish of Shannon, county of Fitzroy.
Provision is made at this point for a diversion weir. A tunnel 30 chains in length will convey the water under an intervening ridge between the river and the head of the Blaxlands Creek valley, whence the water will grwitate through pipes a distance of 19 miles to a service reservoir on an elevated site some 5 miles distant from Grafton.

Prom the service reservoir the water will be distributed by service main and reticulation pipes to Grafton and South Grafton. Act
