Government Railways (Parking Stations)

Amendment By-law 2016

Made by the Public Transport Authority of Western Australia under the in Executive Council under section 24.

1.             Citation

This by-law is the Government Railways (Parking Stations)
Amendment By-law 2016.

2.             Commencement

This by-law comes into operation as follows —

(a) rules 1 and 2 — on the day on which this by-law is

published in the Gazette;

(b) the rest of the by-law — on the day after that day.

3.             By-law amended

This by-law amends the Government Railways (Parking
Stations) By-law 1997.

4.             Rule 1 amended

(1) In rule 1(1) delete the definition of parking space.
(2) In rule 1(1) insert in alphabetical order:

motor cycle space means a defined area marked for
parking a motor cycle without a side-car, a motorised

scooter or a bicycle;

parking space means a section or part of a parking
station, that is designated as a place where a vehicle
may stand or be parked whether on payment of a
charge or otherwise;

5.             Rule 4 amended

(1) Delete rule 4(2)(d) and insert:

(d)

in a motor cycle space unless the vehicle is a motor cycle without a side-car, a motorised scooter or a bicycle.

(2) Delete rule 4(3) and insert:
(3) A person must not stand a motor cycle without a
side-car, a motorised scooter or a bicycle in a parking
space unless the parking space is a motor cycle space.

6.             Rule 9 amended

In rule 9 delete “space marked “M/C”” and insert:

motor cycle space

7.             Rule 12 amended

Delete rule 12 and insert:

12.           Disabled parking

(1)

A person must not park or stand a vehicle in an area designated for the parking or standing of vehicles of

disabled persons unless —

(a)

a disabled person is the driver of, or a passenger in, the vehicle; and

(b)

the vehicle is identified in accordance with rule 11(2).

(2) If a person parks or stands a vehicle of a disabled
person in a paid parking station, other than in an area
designated for the parking or standing of vehicles of
disabled persons, the person must pay any applicable
charge in accordance with rule 14.

8.             Rule 14 amended

In rule 14(2) after “the charge” insert:

set out in Schedule 1 item 1(1)

9.             Schedule 1 amended

In Schedule 1 item 1(1) delete “period between 5 a.m. and 9 p.m.
on the day of issue of the ticket” and insert:
24 hour period
