GOVERNMENT RAILWAYS

(AMENDMENT) ACT.

Act NTo. 36, 1923.

An Act to provide that the present Chief Railway Commissioner for New South Wales and Assistant Railway Commissioners for Now South Wales shall remain in office until, and shall cease to hold office at, a date to be appointed by the Governor ; to amend the Government Railways Act, 1012, and certain other Ac t s ; and for purposes connected therewith. [Assented to, 21st December, 1923.J

BE

BE it enacted by the King's Most Excellent Majesty, lative Council and Legislative Assembly of New South by and with the advice and consent of the Legis­

Wales in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows :—

1. This Act may be cited as the "Government Railways (Amendment) Act, 1923," and shall be read with the Government Bail ways Act of 1912, as subse­ quently amended, which Act as so amended is in this Act referred to as the Principal Act.

2 . (1) Notwithstanding anything in the Principal

Act—

(a) the Chief Railway Commissioner for New South Wales and the Assistant Railway Com­ missioners for New South "Wales in office at. the passing of this Act shall hold office till a date, not later than the thirty-first day of December, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-four, to be appointed by the Governor and notified in the Gazette ;
(b) each of the said Railway Commissioners shall on the dale so appointed cease to hold office.

(2) Nothing in this section shall render any of the said Railway Commissioners ineligible for reap­ pointment.

(3) Should any vacancy occur in the office of any of the said Railway Commissioners before the date so appointed the same may be supplied until that date by appointment in accordance with the provisions of the
