AN ACT to amend the Government Railways Act,

1904-1978.

[Assented to 25th October, 1979.]

BE it enacted by the Queen's Most ExcellentMajesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

1. (1) This Act may be cited as the Government

Section 13

amended.

2. Section 13 of the principal Act is amended

(a)

by inserting after the section designation "13." the subsection designation "(1)"; and

(b)

by adding a new subsection, as follows

(2) For the purposes of the construction, operation, alteration, improvement, management, mainten- ance, or control of any railway subject to this Act, the Commission may

(a)

purchase, hold, take on lease, exchange or otherwise acquire, sell, lease or otherwise dispose of, and deal in, real and personal property; and

(b)

enter into, assign and novate contracts, and execute all such instruments,

as may be required for those purposes. .

Section 23

amended.

3. Subsection (2) of section 23 of the principal

Act is amended

(a)

by deleting the word "Regulations" in line one and substituting the word "Bylaws"; and

(b)

by deleting the word "regulations" in line four and substituting the word "bylaws".

Section 82

amended.

4. Section 82 of the principal Act is amended by deleting the words "twenty miles" in line nine and substituting the words "thirty-two kilometres".
