GOVERNMENT GUARANTEES (AMEND­

MENT) ACT.

An Act to amend the Government Guarantees Act, 1934-1937, in certain respects; and for purposes connected therewith. [Assented

Wales in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows :—

1 . (1) This Act may be cited as the "Government

Guarantees (Amendment) Act, 1940."

(2) The Government Guarantees Act, 1934-1937, as amended by subsequent Acts and by this Act, may be cited as the Government Guarantees Act, 1934-1940.

2 . (1) The Government Guarantees Act, 1934-1937, as

amended by subsequent Acts, is amended—

(a) by inserting in subsection one of section three after the words "with the bank" the words " o r of any indebtedness to the bank" ;

(b) (i) by omitting from paragraph (e) of section four the words " a n incorporated hospital or separate institution o r " ;

under

(ii)   by omitting from the same paragraph the words "hospital insti tution";

(iii)   by inserting at the end of the same paragraph the following words:—

This paragraph shall not apply to or in
respect of any guarantee or any renewal of
a guarantee, as the case may be, given

under the authority of this Act, guarantee- ing the repayment of any loans or advances made or to be made to an incorporated hospital or separate institution within the meaning of the Public Hospitals Act, 1929-1937.

(2) The amendments made by subsection one of this section shall be deemed to have commenced on the thirty-first day of December, one thousand nine hundred and thirty-four, and shall apply to all guarantees executed on or after that date pursuant to subsection one or subsection four of section three of the Government Guarantees Act, 1934, as amended from time to time, notwithstanding anything contained in such guarantees.
