AN ACT to amend the Government Employees

(Promotions Appeal Board) Act, 1945-1952.

[Assented to 9th January, 1954.]

BE it enacted, by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

1. (1) This Act may be cited as the Government short title and citation.

Employees (Promotions Appeal Board) Act Amend-

ment Act (No. 2), 1953.

(2) In this Act the Government Employees (Promotions Appeal Board) Act, 1945-1952

Act No. 38 of 1945 as amended by Acts Nos. 33 of 1946, 15 of 1949, 54 of 1951 and 53 of 1952,

is referred to as the principal Act.

(3) The principal Act as amended by this Act may be cited as the Government Employees (Pro- motions Appeal Board) Act, 1945-1953.

2. Section three of the principal Act is amended Smended.

by

(a) adding after the word "includes" in line three of the interpretation, "Department" the words, "the Western Australian Fire Brigades Board";

(b)	adding after the word, "employment" in line five of the interpretation, "Employee", the words, "and includes an officer or member of a permanent fire brigade or administrative employee employed under the Western Australian Fire Brigades Board in a permanent capacity";
(c)	adding after the word, "promotion" in the last line of the interpretation, "Recom- mending Authority" the words, "and where an appeal is made by an officer or member of a permanent fire brigade or administra- tive employee employed under the Western Australian Fire Brigade Board includes that Board".

amended. 3. Section fourteen of the principal Act is

amended by

(a) deleting the words, "who, not being persons employed as teachers by the Education Department are" in line one of paragraphs (a), (b), (c) and (d) of the interpretation, "Seniority";

(b) repealing paragraph (e).

Schedule

amended. 4. The Schedule to the principal Act is amended

by adding after the last line the following:

Fire Brigades Act, 1942-1951—No. 35 of 1942.
