Gloucester-street Alteration Legalising Act 1878 No 6a (NSW)

WH E R E A S a certain street known as Gloucester-street in the City of Sydney was under the provisions of the statutes enacted in	that behalf laid out at a width of sixty feet and fixed and declared
accordingly And whereas it is necessary and expedient to alter the width of such portion of the said street as lies and is situate between Argyle and Little Essex streets and of the roadway and footways thereof respectively and there is now no power by law to effect the alterations aforesaid and it is desirable that such power should be given Be it therefore enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and Legislative
Assembly of New South Wales in Parliament assembled and by the
authority of the same as follows :—
1. I t shall be lawful for the City Surveyor subject to the exist­ ing law in all other respects to alter such portion of the street called Gloucester-

Gloucester-street in the City of Sydney as lies and is situate between Argyle and Little Essex streets so as to lay out a roadway of twenty- two feet in and along the aforesaid portion of Gloucester-street and a footway of a width of ten feet on each side thereof any law or statute to the contrary notwithstanding.

2. From and after the passing of this Act it shall not be lawful for any person to erect any building of any kind or description what­ soever within the limits of the aforesaid portion of Gloucester-street
within ten feet of the outer kerbstone or exterior edge of such foot-
ways Provided always that the provisions of the Acts four William
fourth number seven four William Fourth numbered eleven live
William Fourth number twenty six William Fourth number nine and
fourteen Victoria number forty-one shall in respect to building within twelve feet of the outer kerbstone or exterior edge of footways within the City of Sydney and in all other respects where applicable and
except where herein provided to the contrary be applicable and applied

mutatis mutandis to the aforesaid portion of Gloucester-street.
