GLENBAWN DAM (AMENDMENT) ACT.

Act No. 11, 1957.

BE it enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, lative Council and Legislative Assembly of New South by and with the advice and consent of the Legis­

Wales in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
1. (1) This Act may be cited as the "Glenbawn Dam (Amendment) Act, 1957".

(2) The Glenbawn Dam Act, 1946, as amended by this Act, may be cited as the Glenbawn Dam Act, 1946- 1957.

2. This Act shall be deemed to have commenced on the twenty-fourth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and forty-six.

3. The Glenbawn Dam Act, 1946, is amended—

(a)

by inserting at the end of section three the words, symbols and figures "and catalogued No. 278/420";

(b)

by omitting from section four the words "one million five hundred thousand pounds" and by inserting in lieu thereof the words "fourteen

million pounds" ;

(c)

by omitting the Schedule and by inserting in lieu thereof the following Schedule:—

SCHEDULE.

(1) (a) An earth and rock fill dam across the Hunter River about

8 miles from the junction of the Hunter and Page's Rivers within

portion 3, parish of Macqueen, county of Brisbane, and portion 49,

parish of Rouchel, county of Durham, for the combined purposes of
flood mitigation and conservation of water, the dam to be of a height sufficient to store about 296,000 acre feet of water and to have a concrete lined chute spillway located in a saddle approximately half a mile south-east of the dam, discharging into a creek and a channel leading to the Hunter River, together with gates and out­ lets for regulation of the discharge of water from the storage.

(b) Road deviations and roads of access together with structures incidental thereto.

(c) Works necessary for the protection of the foreshores of

the storage.
(2) The whole of the works hereinbefore described to be subject to such modifications as may be deemed desirable by the Constructing Authority.
