GENERAL INSURANCE BROKERS
AND AGENTS ACT REPEAL ACT
No. 12 of 1986
AN ACT to repeal the General Insurance Brokers and Agents
Act 1981, and to make provisions consequential thereon.
[Assented to 25 July 1986.]
BE it enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the
advice and consent of the Legislative Council and the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
Short title
1. This Act may be cited as the General Insurance Brokers and
Agents Act Repeal Act 1986.
Commencement
2. This Act shall come into operation on such day as is fixed by
proclamation.

Principal Act
3. In this Act the General Insurance Brokers and Agents Act 1981 * is referred to as the principal Act.

Repeal of principal Act
4. The principal Act is hereby repealed.
Refund of registration fees, and transitional provisions
5. (1) In this section
"Minister" means the Minister in whom, immediately before the coming into operation of this Act, the administration of the principal Act was vested; and
| "the Board" means the body known as the Insurance Brokers Licensing Board established under section 5 of the principal Act. |
(2) All the right, title and interest in and to any property that immediately before the coming into operation of this Act was vested in the Board is by force of this section and without further assurance vested in the Minister, and all obligations and liabilities of the Board then existing are in like manner imposed on the Minister.
(3) The prescribed percentage of any fee paid to the Board in respect of the registration or the renewal of the registration of a person under the principal Act as an insurance agent shall, in so far as the period for which registration was effected has not expired, be refunded by the Minister to the person by whom the fee was paid.
Regulations
6. The Governor may make regulations for or with respect to any matter that by this Act is required or permitted to be prescribed, or that is necessary or convenient to be prescribed, for carrying out or giving effect to this Act.
