GAS SUPPLY ACT 1996 No 38—PROCLAMATION

(L.S.) G. SAMUELS, Governor.

I, the Honourable Gordon Samuels, AC, Governor of the State of New South Wales, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of section 2 of the Gas Supply Act 1996, do, by this my Proclamation, appoint 12 July 1996 as the day on which that Act commences, except for the following provisions:

(a) Division 2 of Part 2;
(b) section 51;

(c)

Schedule 1.7 [10], to the extent to which it repeals section 70 of the Gas Act 1986;

(d) clause 8 of Schedule 2.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The object of this Proclamation is to commence the Gas Supply Act 1996, apart from

the provisions dealing with the following matters:

( a )

the provision of third party access to the distribution systems of authorised reticulators (Division 2 of Part 2) ;

(b )

the exemption of network operators from the requirement to pay “mains taxes” for gas works situated on public reserves and public roads (section 51 and clause 8 of Schedule 2) ;

( c ) the repeal o f section 7 0 (Gas Customers Reserve Account) of the Gas Act 1986.
