Explanatory note

The object of this Regulation is to require persons who carry out certain gasfitting work to comply with the Australian and New Zealand Standard entitled AS/NZS 5601.2:2013, Gas installations—Part 2: LP Gas

installations in caravans and boats for non-propulsive purposes.

This Regulation is made under the Gas and Electricity (Consumer Safety) Act 2017, including sections 34 (b) and 75 (the general regulation-making power).

1      Name of Regulation

This Regulation is the Gas and Electricity (Consumer Safety) Amendment (Gas

Installations) Regulation 2018.

2      Commencement

This Regulation commences on 1 January 2019 and is required to be published on the
NSW legislation website.

[1]      Clause 39 Gasfitting work to comply with certain standards

Omit paragraph (b) of the definition of AS/NZS 5601 in clause 39 (2).

Insert instead:

(b) on and from 1 January 2019—the Australian and New Zealand Standards entitled AS/NZS 5601.1:2013, Gas installations—Part 1:

General installations and AS/NZS 5601.2:2013, Gas installations— Part 2: LP Gas installations in caravans and boats for non-propulsive purposes.

[2]      Clause 46 Compliance plates

Insert “or 55A (as appropriate)” after “clause 55” in clause 46 (2).

[3]      Clause 55 Requirements for compliance plates—general

Insert after clause 55 (5):

(6)	This clause does not apply to a gas installation to which AS/NZS 5601.2:2013,
Gas installations—Part 2: LP Gas installations in caravans and boats for non-propulsive purposes applies.

Insert after clause 55:

55A Requirements for compliance plates—certain gas installations in caravans

and boats

(1) This clause applies to a gas installation to which AS/NZS 5601.2:2013 applies. (2) A compliance plate attached to a gas installation to which AS/NZS 5601.2:2013 applies must comply with the requirements set out in section 10.1 of that Standard.

(3)	Until 30 June 2019, a compliance plate that complies with clause 55 is taken to comply with this clause.
(4)	In this clause:
AS/NZS 5601.2:2013 means the Australian and New Zealand Standard
entitled AS/NZS 5601.2:2013, Gas installations—Part 2: LP Gas
installations in caravans and boats for non-propulsive purposes.
