An Act to amend the Gas and Electricity Act, 1935, as a consequence of the uniting of the City of Sydney and the Municipality of South Sydney. [Assented to, 18th December, 1981.]

Gas and Electricity {Amendment).

BE it enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly of New South Wales in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

Short title.

1. This Act may be cited as the "Gas and Electricity (Amendment) Act,

1981".

Commencement.

2.      (1) This section and section 1 shall commence on the date of assent

to this Act.

(2) Except as provided by subsection (1), this Act shall commence on

1st January, 1982.

Principal Act.

3.      The Gas and Electricity Act, 1935, is referred to in this Act as the

Principal Act.

Amendment of Act No. 42, 1935.

4.      The Principal Act is amended in the manner set forth in Schedule 1.

Saving.

5. The references, in Schedules 3 and 6 to the Principal Act, to the City of Sydney shall be read and construed as references to the united area, within the meaning of the Local Government (City of Sydney Boundaries') Act, 1981.
