GAS AND ELECTRICITY (AMENDMENT) ACT.

An Act to amend the Gas and Electricity Act,

1935-1948, in certain respects; and for

purposes connected therewith. [Assented

Wales in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows :—

1 . (1) This Act may be cited as the "Gas and

Electricity (Amendment) Act, 1949".

(2) The Gas and Electricity Act, 1935, as amended by subsequent Acts and by this Act, may be cited as the Gas and Electricity Act, 1935-1949.

2 . (1) The Gas and Electricity Act, 1935-1948, is

amended—

(a)	by omitting from paragraph (a) of subsection two of section twelve the word "shall" where firstly occurring and by inserting in lieu thereof the word "may";
(b)	by omitting from subsection one of section fourteen the word "shall" and by inserting in lieu thereof the word "may";
(c)	by omitting from subsection one of section fifteen the word "shall" and by inserting in lieu thereof the word "may" ;
(d)	by omitting from section sixteen the word "shall" where firstly occurring and by inserting in lieu thereof the word "may". (2).

(2) The amendments made by subsection one of this section shall be deemed to have commenced upon the sixth day of August, one thousand nine hundred and forty-nine.
