268 Q1x2PIt Itttt ANNO QUINTO DECIMO ELIZABETHAE SECUNDAE REGINAE No. 34 of 1966 An Act to Amend "The Gas Act of 1965" in certain particulars ASSENTED TO 21ST DECEMBER, 19661 BE IT ENACTED by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:- 1. (1) Short title . This Act may be cited as " The Gas Act Amendment Act of 1966." (2) Principal Act. " The Gas Act of 1965 " is in this Act called the Principal Act. (3) Collective title. The Principal Act and this Act may be collectively cited as " The Gas Acts, 1965 to 1966." 2. Amendment to s. 5 . Section five of the Principal Act is amended by inserting after the definition " Measured gas " the following definition: " " Metal working "-The working of metal by means of flame cutting, welding, brazing, silver soldering and hand-torch operations wherein gas is used in combination with neat oxygen or oxygen enriched air: the term does not include furnace heating or any other mode of producing or concentrating heat for the purpose of performing an operation on or in respect of metal; ".

Section six of the Principal Act is amended by adding the words "and by any persons and the holders of any appointment thereunto authorized or specified by regulations made under this Act to the extent therein defined ". 4. Amendment to s. 45. Section forty-five of the Principal Act is amended by, in subsection (1), inserting after the paragraph commencing with the words " In this section " the following paragraph:- " Notwithstanding the foregoing provisions of this subsection, a holder of cumulative preference shares in a gas supplier which were issued before the date of commencement of "The Gas Act of1965 " shall continue to be entitled (and shall be deemed to have been entitle, since such date) to dividends on such shares and to all other rights attaching to the holding of such shares in accordance with the terms upon which shares of that class and issue were held immediately before such date." S. Amendments to Sch. IV. Schedule IV to the Principal Act is amended by- (a) in clause 1, adding the words " and any person or holder of an appointment authorized under this Act to administer this Act "; (b) in clause 3, adding the words " including regulating the type thereof, the manner of their installation, rectification of defects in fittings or their installation, the payment of the costs of such rectification and the persons who may instal fittings and providing for a system of licensing such persons and the control and discipline of licensed persons ". 6. Amendments in relation to decimal currency . The Principal Act is amended as set out in the Schedule to this Act.
