Act No 12, 1997

An Act to amend the Gaming and Betting Act 1912 to remove restrictions on Sunday race meetings and on evening betting at licensed racecourses. [Assented to 21 May 1997]

Section 1 Gaming and Betting Amendment Act 1997 No 12

The Legislature of New South Wales enacts:

1 Name of Act

This Act is the Gaming and Betting Amendment Act 1997.

2 Commencement

This Act commences on a day or days to be appointed by proclamation.

3 Amendment of Gaming and Betting Act 1912 No 25

The Gaming and Betting Act 1912 is amended as set out in
Schedule 1.

[1]       Section 7 Prohibition of betting or wagering

Omit “and” from section 7 (1) (c).

[2]       Section 7 (1) (d)

Omit the paragraph.

Omit the subsection.

[4]       Section 57A Days on which race meetings can be held

Omit “and Saturdays” from section 57A (1) (a).
Insert instead “ , Saturdays and Sundays”.

Omit “a Sunday,”.

Omit “Sundays,”.
