His Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, has made the following Regulation under the Gaming and Betting Act 1912.

Explanatory note
The object of this Regulation is to provide that any gaming device which is located at the Sydney Casino on the site of the former Pyrmont Power Station and which is possessed, used or operated with the prior approval of, and in compliance with any conditions made by, the Minister is excluded from the definition of prohibited amusement device for the purposes of Part 2A of the Gaming and Betting Act 1912. This exclusion will only operate for a limited time (21 November 1997 to 24 November 1997) and will enable the devices to be possessed, used or operated without contravening section 17A of the Gaming and Betting Act 1912.
This Regulation is made under the Gaming and Betting Act 1912, including sections 16A and 59 (the general regulation making power).

1 Name of Regulation
This Regulation is the Gaming and Betting Amendment (Prohibited Amusement Devices—Temporary Exemption) Regulation 1997.
2 Amendment of Gaming and Betting (General) Regulation 1991
The Gaming and Betting (General) Regulation 1991 is amended as set out in Schedule 1.

(Clause 2)
Clause 11 Certain devices not prohibited amusement devices
Insert after clause 1 1 (e):
( f ) any device that, between Friday 21 November 1997 and Monday 24 November 1997 inclusive:
(i) is located on premises erected on the site of the former Pyrmont Power Station and comprising the permanent Sydney Casino, and (ii) is possessed, used or operated with the prior approval of the Minister and in compliance with any conditions to which the approval is subject.
