An Act to amend the Gaming and Betting Act 1912 to allow for race-meetings to be held on no more than 8 Sundays during the period commencing 1 January 1992 and ending 31 December 1993. [Assented to 17 December 1991]

Gaming and Betting (Amendment) 1991

The Legislature of New South Wales enacts:

Short title

1. This Act may be cited as the Gaming and Betting (Amendment) Act

1991.

Commencement

2. This Act commences on the date of assent.

Amendment of Gaming and Betting Act 1912 No. 25

3. The Gaming and Betting Act 1912 is amended by inserting after

section 53 the following section:

Race-meetings on Sundays for limited period

53AA. (1) Race-meetings may be held on no more than 8 Sundays during the period commencing 1 January 1992 and ending 3 1 December 1993.

(2) The Minister is to determine the dates when such race-meetings are to be held, which racing clubs are to conduct them and on which race-courses they are to be held.

(3) This section has effect despite section 53 or any other provision in this or any other Act.

(4) This section does not, by itself, operate to increase the maximum number of days on which race-meetings may be held on a race-course in accordance with this Act.

(5) The Minister is to calculate, and notify the Treasurer of, the amount of money that is paid into the Consolidated Fund as a result of betting on horse, greyhound or harness racing at race-meetings held on Sundays in accordance with this section.
