(AMENDMENT) ACT.

Wales in Par l iament assembled, and by the au thor i ty of t he same, as follows :—

1. This A c t m a y be ci ted as the " Gaming and

B e t t i n g (Amendmen t ) Ac t , 1927 , " and shall be read
a n d const rued w i t h the G a m i n g and Be t t i ng Ac t , 1912,
w h i c h in th is A c t is referred to as t he Pr inc ipa l Act .
  1. T h e Pr inc ipa l A c t is amended— (a) (i) by omi t t i ng from pa rag raph (a) of section

    forty-seven the words " such bet or wager or any such event or con t ingency as herein­ before men t ioned " a n d by inser t ing in l ieu thereof t h e words " be t or wager on any fu tu re event or cont ingency " ;

Provided t h a t such mee t ings may be held on a n y such racecourse on a t least seven days in any one y e a r : (ii)
(ii) b y inse r t ing in t he same
section  after
(ii) by omi t t i ng f rom t h e same p a r a g r a p h the

words " a s is hereinbefore ment ioned " ;

(iii)   by omitting from paragraph (b) of the same section t h e words " a s is hereinbefore men­

t ioned " ;

(b) (i) by inser t ing a t t he end of pa ragraph (b) of

subsect ion th ree of section fifty-one the

following p rov i so :—

(3A) F o r t h e purposes of this P a r t t h e
M e n a n g l e P a r k Racecourse shall be deemed

to be s i tua te beyond forty miles from t h e Genera l Pos t Office, Sydney, provided t h a t t he n u m b e r of days in any one year on which mee t ings for horse rac ing m a y b e held on t h e said racecourse shal l no t exceed s ix teen.

(iii) by omi t t i ng from pa rag raph (a) of sub ­

section five of t he same section t h e words " o f which t en d a y s " and by inser t ing in l ieu thereof t h e words " which days " ;

(iv)    by inser t ing in p a r a g r a p h (b) of subsection five of t h e same section after t he word " m i l e s " t h e words " a n d is also s i t u a t e beyond forty mi les of t h e pr inc ipa l post

office, Newcas t l e " ;

(5A) N o t w i t h s t a n d i n g t h e provisions of

subsect ions four and live of th i s section t he r e m a y h e he ld on any l icensed race ­ course referred to in pa rag raphs (b) of t h e said subsect ions respectively, any n u m b e r

of e i ther pony r ac ing meet ings or t r o t t i n g

races or contests , b u t t he n u m b e r of d a y s on which they are held shal l no t exceed twelve in al l .

(c) (i) by inse r t ing in subsect ion four of section

fifty-two after t h e words " Sydney shal l no t exceed " t h e words " by more t h a n one " ;

(ii) by inse r t ing in t h e same subsect ion af te r
t h e words " one thousand n ine hund red a n d

s i x " t h e words " and t h r ee of such l icenses shal l be issued in respect of racecourses for

t r o t t i n g contes ts " ;
(iii) by omi t t i ng from t h e same subsect ion t h e

words " The n u m b e r of l icenses for race­ courses s i tua te wi th in forty miles of t h e

pr incipal

pr incipal post office, Newcas t le , shal l not exceed the n u m b e r of racecourses so s i tua te

a n d in use for race-meet ings wi th in t h e
three m o n t h s a fo re sa id" a n d by inse r t ing

in l ieu thereof t h e following words :—

" T h e n u m b e r of licenses for racecourses
s i tua te wi th in for ty miles of t h e pr incipal
post office, Newcas t le , shall no t exceed by

more t h a n t h r ee t h e n u m b e r of racecourses so s i tuate and in use for race mee t ings wi th in t he th ree m o n t h s aforesaid and th ree of such licenses shall be issued in respect of racecourses for t ro t t ing contests : Provided t h a t t h e aggrega te n u m b e r of days in a n y one year on which t ro t t i ng contests m a y be held shal l not exceed twenty-five, of w h i c h n o t more t h a n fifteen m a y be held on t h e

l icensed racecourse neares t to t h e pr incipal

post office, Newcas t le , and no t more t h a n five on each of t h e o the r two racecourses

l icensed for t r o t t i n g con tes t s . "

(d)

by inserting at the end of section fifty-nine the following new subsection :—

(2) T h e regula t ions shall—
(a) be publ i shed in t h e G a z e t t e ;

(b)

take effect from the date of publica­ t ion or from a la ter da te to be specified

in t he r egu l a t i ons ; a n d
(c) be laid before both Houses of Parlia­
m e n t wi th in four teen s i t t ing days
af ter publ ica t ion if P a r l i a m e n t is in
session, and if not , t h e n wi th in
fourteen s i t t ing days after t he com­
m e n c e m e n t of t h e n e x t session.
I f e i ther H o u s e of Pa r l i amen t passes a r e so ­
lu t ion of which no t i ce has been given a t a n y
t i m e wi th in iff teen s i t t ing days after t h e

regula t ions have been laid- before such H o u s e disal lowing any regula t ion or pa r t thereof, such regu la t ion or p a r t shal l t he reupon cease to have effect.
