An Act to Amend "The Friendly Societies Acts, FRIENDLY SOCmTIES 1913 to 1947," in a certain particulal. ACTS AMENDMENT ACT OF 1948. [ASSENTED TO 1ST APRIL, 1948.] B E it enacted by the King's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legis- lative Assembly of Queensland in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows;- Short title 1. This Act may be cited as "The Friendly Societies :!tl'uction. A?ts Amendmen.t Act of 1~ 4~, " and shall be read as one WIth *" The Fnendly Soc~ et~ es Acts, 1913 to 1947," herein referred to as the Principal Act. Collective The Principal Act and this Act may collectively be title. cited as "The Friendly Societies Acts, 1913 to 1948." Amendments 2. Rule six of the Third Schedule of the Principal o T f h r i . rd 6 S o c f h. Act is amended as follows ; - (i.) In sub-paragraph (i.) of paragraph (a) of sub-rule two of the said rule the words "forty shillings" are repealed and the words "four pounds" are inserted in lieu of such repealed words ; (ii.) The following paragraph (c) is added to sub-rule two of the said rullCl, namely ;- " (C) In the case of a funeral benefit provided or to be pro- vided by such person in respect of a child under the age of ten years under !j,ny contract not solely for the provision of benefits with regard to such child, any sum or sums in excess of the amount of five pounds contributed by a contributor under such contract up to the time of the death of such child and credited to the funeral benefit account thereunder, shall continue to remain to the credit of the funeral benefit account under such contract which shall thereupon continue and remain in force and shall not be then terminated, cancelled, or discontinued by reason of such funeral benefit being or having been provided." (iii). The following sub-rule numbered four is added . to the said rule, namely :- "(4) The registered rules relating to the sickness, medical or funeral benefit business of any person registered to carry on such business prior to the date of the passing of t" The Friendly Societies Acts Amendment Act of 1948," shall on and from the said date, and notwithstanding anything to the contrary contained in such rules, be * 4 G. 5 No. 13 and amending Acts. t This Act.

Marriage Act8, Etc., Amendment Act. deemed. to be amended and shall be construed so as to give effect to the provisions of paragraph (C) of sub-rule two of rule six of this Schedule: . Provided. that this sub-rule shall not affect the operation before the said date of the rules so deemed to be amended., or anything duly done or suffered., or any right, privilege, obligation, liability, or remedy acquired, accrued, or incurred before the said date under such rules. 293 STANDARDS FOR ROOFING TILES.
